WHY DIRECT CARRY

Collect the executed set after your adviser releases it

Some deeds and instruments depend on original execution and careful handling. Re-execution may not be a practical fallback.

We can arrange collection after execution and plan a direct overseas handover to counsel, counterparty or administrator.

If the movement is primarily between legal teams, see international legal document transport. Where original signatures are the key requirement, see wet-ink document delivery planning.

Direct Carry is an on-board courier/hand-carry service, not a legal adviser or certification authority. We transport accepted items; the sender remains responsible for document validity, legalisation, filing rules and any jurisdiction-specific requirements.

Work around execution and the receiving adviser
HOW WE PLAN IT

Work around execution and the receiving adviser

A deed may be part of a wider pack with schedules, counterparts or supporting originals. Your adviser should identify exactly what is ready to travel and who may receive it. Give the courier a clear release time and handover instruction without relying on the courier to check execution or completeness.

01
Confirm execution readiness

Ask the instructing adviser when the final set can be released. Make clear if a signing or witnessing appointment still affects collection time.

02
Identify the complete pack

State the number of envelopes, folders or bound sets. The sender should check the contents and any attachments before handing them to the courier.

03
Protect the original

Describe the pack dimensions and whether folding, bending or separating sheets is prohibited by your handling instruction. Include its protective folder in the measurements.

04
Set the receiving deadline

Give the receiving adviser’s local date and time for physical receipt. Identify any onward completion step so its required preparation time is visible.

05
Specify the handover

Name the receiving office and person, with an alternative only if authorised. Agree what acknowledgement is needed for the matter record.

06
Describe any return

If originals need to come back, explain when they are expected to be released at destination. A return or second recipient requires an additional route assessment.

Keep originals, schedules and counterpart instructions clear
CUSTODY & HANDOVER

Keep originals, schedules and counterpart instructions clear

Use a matter or pack reference that the collecting and receiving advisers both recognise. If several originals travel together, identify the number of packages and whether they must remain as one set. The handling instruction should describe the pack as prepared by the sender without requiring the courier to interpret the deed.

✓
Named collection contactThe adviser or sender confirms that the executed set may leave the office.
✓
Direct courier custodyRecord the package count and any instruction to keep schedules with the original.
✓
Named recipientIdentify the receiving adviser and any permitted colleague or reception handover.
✓
Progress updatesInclude the matter reference in agreed progress and receipt information.

FAQ

Common questions

Does the courier check that a deed is correctly executed?

No. Your adviser or the relevant professional checks execution, completeness and suitability. The courier collects the pack they release and follows the agreed delivery instruction.

Can schedules and counterparts travel together?

Describe the complete set, package count and any instruction to keep it together. The sender should prepare and check the pack before collection so the courier does not need to assemble it.

Can collection follow a signing appointment?

Give the expected finish time and the person who will confirm release. If the appointment runs late, the journey and receiving arrangements need to be reassessed against the new ready time.

Can you return an original after completion?

Explain the return requirement when requesting the outward movement. The receiving office’s release time, destination and handling instructions must be known before a return journey can be confirmed.

Need the original there urgently?

Send the collection point, destination, document or item details and the real handover deadline. We’ll assess the practical route.
