WHY DIRECT CARRY

Make the physical original the centre of the delivery brief

The issue is not the weight of the paperwork; it is the difficulty, delay or commercial consequence of replacing the original.

A direct-custody approach keeps the document with a dedicated courier through the agreed journey and reduces avoidable transfers.

For a single official original, see original certificate transport. If the recipient specifically requests the physically signed copy, see wet-ink document delivery.

Direct Carry is an on-board courier/hand-carry service, not a legal adviser or certification authority. We transport accepted items; the sender remains responsible for document validity, legalisation, filing rules and any jurisdiction-specific requirements.

Identify the original, its packaging and its next custodian
HOW WE PLAN IT

Identify the original, its packaging and its next custodian

When a copy cannot meet the recipient’s request, the transport brief should identify the physical pack that will travel. Tell us how many originals it contains, who can release them and who should hold them at the end of the journey. Clear packaging and recipient instructions matter as much as the departure time.

01
Identify what travels

State the document category, number of originals and number of packages. Explain whether any supporting papers must stay with the main original.

02
Confirm the release point

Give the address where the pack is held and the person who can release it. If someone else is collecting it from an issuer first, include that dependency.

03
Specify protection

Provide packed dimensions and weight, including rigid folders or wallets. Record any instruction against folding, separating pages or changing the packaging.

04
Define the receiving need

Give the named recipient and local physical receipt deadline. Ask the recipient to confirm its own document and appointment requirements.

05
Agree custody instructions

Say who may receive the original and whether a colleague or reception desk is an acceptable substitute. Include the acknowledgement needed for your records.

06
Consider what happens next

If the document is needed at another office or must return, state that at the outset. Each onward movement depends on the next release time and recipient.

A documented instruction for an irreplaceable pack

The sender should prepare and check the pack before collection, then identify it using an agreed reference or package count. Provide handling instructions that describe the physical original and its packaging. Agree who can authorise a change if the intended recipient is unavailable.

FAQ

Common questions

How should I identify an original without sending its contents?

Give the document category, pack reference, number of originals and package dimensions. The route enquiry should explain what physically travels without including unnecessary confidential or personal information.

Will the courier decide which original is required?

The sender, adviser or receiving organisation must identify the correct document. The courier collects the prepared pack described in the accepted instruction.

Can several originals remain together throughout delivery?

State which documents form one pack, how they are packaged and whether splitting delivery is prohibited. Any separate recipient needs its own explicit instruction.

What if the recipient asks for delivery to someone else?

Provide a person authorised to approve changes and specify any permitted substitutes before dispatch. A new recipient or address should be confirmed through the agreed contact.

Need the original there urgently?

Send the collection point, destination, document or item details and the real handover deadline. We’ll assess the practical route.
