Urgent overseas handover
Original agreements, deeds, powers of attorney and prepared legal packs. Give the recipient’s deadline and office hours, not just the destination airport.
Brief us on your deliveryUrgent original legal documents delivered abroad to your authorised recipient. Plan the deadline, handover evidence and any signing-and-return journey.
Legal deadlines can be fixed and unforgiving. Where an original wet-ink document must physically arrive, routing has to be planned backwards from the recipient deadline rather than around a standard courier cut-off.
We plan the collection, departure, international journey and final handover as one movement, with the recipient details checked before dispatch.
For the working arrangements between a practice and a courier, see international courier support for law firms. For an executed set with schedules, see international deed delivery.
Tell us what must physically arrive, who can receive it and the real deadline. We assess the journey and confirm the scope and total quote before you book.

Brief us on your deliveryNeed a signed original brought back? Include the signing appointment, expected waiting time and return deadline. Both journeys need confirmation.
Signing and return arrangementsCollection from your firm, notary or another authorised release point can be assessed. Tell us which signatures or legalisation steps are still outstanding.
Official UK legalisation guidanceAgree the recipient, receipt details and approved update contacts before dispatch. Existing tracking provides journey milestones, with location when the courier shares it. A delivery receipt is evidence of physical handover, not a certificate of legal service or filing.

For solicitors, lawyers, in-house teams and private clients. Start with the route and deadline; add specialist handover instructions where needed.
Deadline today? Call 0208 064 2664 while preparing the brief. Availability and transport must be confirmed.
No document upload is needed. Use a neutral reference and share only information necessary for the movement. Privacy policy.
Check the collection window, named delivery point, local deadline, any return journey, included costs and instructions for disruption. Ask specifically about document cover and exclusions; do not assume the financial consequences of a missed deadline are insured.
Direct Carry provides transport, not legal advice, certification, notarisation or automatic process service. Legal validity and procedural requirements remain with the instructing adviser.

Copying is optional and does not send your enquiry. Copied details remain on your clipboard; use a sharing channel approved by your firm.
Use this with your instructing lawyer or receiving adviser. You can enquire before every answer is known. These ticks are a local preparation aid; they are not sent with the quote.
The receiving authority or adviser should confirm originals versus certified copies, required signatures and paper versus electronic apostilles. Direct Carry does not issue apostilles or certify documents. Consult GOV.UK legalisation guidance.
Agree sealed-pack handling and any restriction on photographs before booking. Lawful security or border inspection may still be required; no courier can promise that authorities will never inspect a pack. Confirm any necessary carriage or destination permissions for the actual contents.
The instructing legal team must determine the lawful service or filing method and any local procedure. Ordinary delivery to reception is not a substitute for that decision. A request for a signature or an NDA is subject to acceptance, not an automatic guarantee.
An international legal document request should explain where the original must physically arrive, who can accept it and by when. A matter deadline, an appointment and a delivery window may be different times. Ask the instructing adviser to distinguish them before a route is selected.
Provide the matter reference and a brief description of the pack. Identify the lawyer or authorised contact who decides the delivery arrangements.
State whether the documents are printed, signed and ready for release. Give a collection contact able to identify the correct pack.
Provide the recipient’s local date, time and time zone. Explain whether a subsequent filing, review or appointment needs additional time.
Give the exact office, desk or agreed delivery location. Include visitor arrangements and any reference the courier must quote on arrival.
Specify the receipt information your matter file needs. If the instruction requires anything beyond physical delivery, describe it before the booking is assessed.
Provide a legal-team contact who can respond during the journey. Changes to location, recipient or timing should come from an authorised person.
The sender’s legal team determines which documents travel and whether the proposed recipient and timing meet the matter requirements. The courier brief should capture the practical release, packaging and handover instructions. Do not rely on an ordinary delivery acknowledgement as confirmation that a legal procedure has been completed.
Provide the matter deadline, collection and delivery contacts, whether the document is sealed, and any specific handover instructions.

Do not assume so. The instructing lawyer must define any legal service or filing requirement and confirm an appropriate method. A courier handover records transport and receipt of the pack.
Start with a reference, document category, pack size, collection readiness, recipient and deadline. Share the practical handling instructions; unnecessary confidential contents are not needed simply to compare journey times.
Provide the appointment time, visitor procedure and contact who arranged access. These details must be considered alongside travel time before the movement is confirmed.
The sender or instructing professional should identify the completed pack and authorise release. The courier does not decide whether signatures, certification or legal contents are sufficient.
