Document signing and return courier
Original contracts delivered overseas for signing, with agreed waiting and a return journey assessed around both deadlines. Already signed? We can also assess a one-way delivery of the finished pack.
Deliver. Wait. Bring it back.
Need an original signed abroad and returned to you? Tell us where the signing will happen, when the signer is available and when the signed pack must be back. We assess the outward journey, agreed waiting and return delivery as one planned job.
Before the courier leaves
- Agree the signing appointment and who will receive the documents.
- State how many original sets travel and which must return.
- Provide the expected signing duration and the contact who can release the pack.
- Give the return address and latest return time, with its time zone.
Agree the waiting and return plan
We confirm the waiting period included in the quote and the proposed return arrangements before booking. If signing takes longer, we reassess the journey and discuss any timing or cost changes before committing to additional arrangements.
You control the document instructions
The parties or their advisers prepare and check the documents, indicate where signatures are required and confirm the pack is ready for release. The courier transports the agreed pack; legal advice, witnessing, notarisation and checking contractual validity are not included.
Keep both handovers clear
Name the recipient abroad and the person accepting the returned originals. Tell us whether reception or a nominated substitute may receive them. If there are several signers or stops, include each location and appointment in the initial brief.
Your documents travel with a dedicated courier. Every Direct Carry courier is DBS-checked, GDPR-trained and works under non-disclosure terms. Tell us who may receive the envelope and any confidentiality instructions before collection. See how confidential document delivery is arranged.
Can the courier wait while documents are signed?
Yes, we can assess a wait-and-return instruction. The appointment, expected duration and included waiting period must be agreed before booking. Waiting is not automatically included in a one-way delivery.
What if the documents will not be ready to return until the next day?
Give us the expected release time. We assess whether waiting locally or arranging a later collection is practical and confirm the cost and timing before you commit. We do not assume the return can happen on the same day.
Receive updates at collection, boarding, arrival, the final delivery leg and delivery. We agree the recipient and proof of delivery before dispatch, so you know how the final handover will be confirmed. See the sample completion report.
We confirm availability, the proposed timing and the total quote before you book.
Already signed? Deliver the completed contract
A deal can depend on an original signature page reaching the right office before a completion or filing deadline.
We work backwards from the required handover time and assess the fastest practical flight or rail routing from the UK.

Typical movements
Use the signing timetable to establish the travel window
Use the signing timetable to establish the travel window
The useful collection time is when the final signed pack is released, not when the signing meeting begins. Tell us whether the recipient only needs to receive the originals or must carry out another step before a completion deadline. Explain any counterparts, additional signatories or return movement when requesting the route.
State whether all intended signatures are complete. Give the person who will confirm the final pack is ready after the signing meeting.
Describe the number of original sets and their recipients. Any separate delivery or onward signing stop needs to be included in the initial instruction.
Give the collection office, envelope reference and contact. The sender or adviser should check the pages and schedules before the pack is handed over.
Provide the receiving person’s local handover time and office access details. Allow for any review or further signing they have told you is needed after receipt.
Compare the practical journey using the actual release time. A late signing finish can affect check-in feasibility, departure choice and final office arrival.
If documents are to move again after delivery, explain the next release point, expected timing and destination. Do not assume the outward journey covers that extra instruction.
Keep the signed version and counterpart instructions clear
Keep the signed version and counterpart instructions clear
The sender should identify the approved signed pack and any separate counterparts before collection. A document or envelope reference helps the receiving team recognise it. The courier follows the packing and delivery instruction; decisions about contract wording, signatures or assembling pages stay with the parties and their advisers.

Common questions
Can you collect straight after the signing meeting?
Provide the expected finish time and a contact who can confirm the final pack has been released. An appointment start time is not a confirmed collection-ready time.
Can separate counterparts go to different recipients?
List each pack, destination and deadline when enquiring. Separate handovers or onward journeys need their own timing and route assessment.
Can the courier obtain another signature?
Describe the requested stop and activity before booking. Additional signing arrangements, waiting and onward release must be expressly assessed; they are not implied by delivery of a signed contract.
Does the courier check that the contract is complete?
The parties or their advisers should check signatures, pages and schedules and identify the final pack. Courier handover confirms transport and receipt, not contract completion or validity.
