WHY DIRECT CARRY

Delivery after the apostille is ready

Once a document has completed apostille or legalisation, the next deadline is often outside the UK. Repeating the certification process can be slow and costly.

We can collect from the professional adviser, legalisation agent or client and arrange direct international handover.

For collection immediately after a notary appointment, see delivery of notarised documents. Agencies coordinating several processing stages can use our courier guidance for notaries and legalisation providers.

Direct Carry is an on-board courier/hand-carry service, not a legal adviser or certification authority. We transport accepted items; the sender remains responsible for document validity, legalisation, filing rules and any jurisdiction-specific requirements.

Plan from release by the legalisation provider
HOW WE PLAN IT

Plan from release by the legalisation provider

A provisional completion date is different from a pack that is ready to collect. Tell us when the provider can release the finished documents and when the overseas recipient needs to hold them. The route assessment should allow for both ends of that process.

01
Check processing status

Confirm with your provider that the apostille or legalisation stage is finished. Share the actual release time, collection reference and pickup contact.

02
Identify the receiving office

Give the overseas adviser, agent or authority address and the time they can accept the pack. Separate this handover deadline from any later appointment.

03
Compare the journey

Flight or rail options are assessed from the processing office, including collection travel and check-in time. A later release can change the practical departure.

04
Describe the finished pack

Provide envelope dimensions, weight and any binding, seals or protective wallet. Tell us if associated originals have been added since the first enquiry.

05
Arrange acceptance

Confirm whether the courier should meet a named person, use a reception desk or attend an agreed appointment. Include a reachable local contact.

06
Allow for delayed release

If processing overruns, tell us promptly so the routing and recipient availability can be reassessed before travel is committed.

Keep the completed document set together
CUSTODY & HANDOVER

Keep the completed document set together

The handover instructions should identify the whole finished pack, including attachments, without asking the courier to decide whether the certification is correct. Agree how the documents will be packaged and what the recipient should acknowledge on delivery.

✓
Named collection contactThe provider should know which finished pack to release and to whom.
✓
Direct courier custodySpecify any requirement to keep bindings and attachments together.
✓
Named recipientConfirm the receiving office has the appointment or reference it needs.
✓
Progress updatesA release delay should be passed to both the booking contact and recipient.

FAQ

Common questions

Do you obtain the apostille?

This service covers transport of the documents. Your chosen provider arranges the apostille or legalisation and confirms when the finished pack can be collected.

Can collection be planned before processing finishes?

An enquiry can start with an expected completion time, but make clear that it is provisional. The route and collection arrangements need to be checked against the actual release time.

Should attached certificates or seals be removed for travel?

Tell us how the provider has prepared the pack and any handling instructions. Ask the issuing or processing professional how it should be protected; do not separate the set merely to fit a smaller envelope.

Does delivery confirm the documents will be accepted overseas?

Delivery confirmation records the agreed handover. The receiving organisation or your adviser must confirm the required certification, content and any appointment arrangements.

Need the original there urgently?

Send the collection point, destination, document or item details and the real handover deadline. We’ll assess the practical route.
